Definitions:

1. I, my, etc. – Usage of these words is referring to the owner of Will’s Lab and or its agents.

2. You – The business, sponsor, or partner engaging with Will’s Lab in any professional relationship.

3. Review – A medium to long length piece of written, audio, or video content produced or significantly contributed to by Will’s Lab evaluating any or all aspects of a product or service (e.g. functionality, construction, quality, accurate reflection of marketed claims, comparisons with alternatives, etc.).

4. Showcase – A short to medium length piece of written, audio, or video content produced or significantly contributed to by Will’s Lab communicating the features, functionality, and or other aspects of a product or service without significant emphasis on opinions or thorough evaluation.

Collaboration, Sponsorship, and Review Policies

1. Usually I am not willing to lend my brand or namesake to other companies or entities, unless it’s for something I truly do believe in / support.

2. I reserve the final creative rights to all content I produce, aside from licensed content I incorporate but do not own.

   1. If you wish to license my content, that may be arranged depending on your intended use case.

3. Under some circumstances I’m willing to provide or engage in collaboration regarding pre-release footage, storyboards, or drafts.

   1. However, I will not accept any direction or contractual requirements that compromise my integrity, moral, or ethical standards.

   2. Any communication I receive from you which I perceive threatens me, my brand, or demands I that refrain from publishing my content pending your approval of unethical changes (i.e. attempting to hold my content “hostage”) will trigger the immediate publication of any relevant work-in-progress content I may have, publication the aforementioned communications in part or in full to maintain transparency to my community, and the potential termination of any partnerships or sponsorships you may have with me.

4. All sponsored content or business collaborations in which I receive payment or items of monetary value will be accompanied by a prominent disclosure near the beginning of the published work. This is non-negotiable.

5. All sponsored content or collaborations should be relevant / applicable to my community / readers / viewers.

6. My acceptance of any sponsorship does not constitute my unlimited endorsement of the sponsor / their product(s).

7. My review and product showcase policy:

   1. Should you lend, give, or grant me access to any products or services for showcase purposes, I am willing to incorporate talking points or other key items you’d like me to mention, as long as they are demonstrably truthful or reasonable. However, all review content will be comprised of my own opinions, unbiased, and unfiltered.

   2. Product showcases and product reviews that I publish will be differentiated from each other to my audience, and in general, review content will be held to the highest ethical standard.

   3. Any talking points or information you provide will be prominently differentiated from my own thoughts and opinions to avoid misleading or confusing the audience. E.g., if you send me talking points and I include them, I will make clear to the audience that they may not reflect my own opinion of the product or service under review, in whatever way is most relevant / applicable.

   4. It is my goal to ensure transparency and fairness to all parties involved in the review process (including my partners and the audience), regardless of whether the content is part of a sponsorship, whether any items or services were given to me free of charge, and regardless of whether any related business or competitors are currently or have previously engaged with me in any capacity. As such, I will disclose in my review whether I received the item under review for free, at a discount, or if I purchased it myself, and whether I was / will be required to return that item. I will also disclose in the review whether I recieved any additional payment (in opportunity or direct exchange of goods / funds) associated with the item under review as a part of any sponsorship or otherwise. Under no circumstances will I accept payment in return for favorable reviews, alteration of my content, or unethical addition / omission of any elements of a review.

   5. If you are sending me a consumer product for review, that product must be exactly the same, or as close to the same as possible, to what any consumer will receive upon purchasing that product from you / your vendors. If I suspect the item I have been sent for review has been tampered with or “cherry-picked” in order to garner a more favorable review, I will disclose my suspicions and reasoning publicly within the review. I may or may not attempt to contact the item’s sender prior to publishing my review to confirm if any tampering was intentional.

   6. If you are sending me a review unit, engineering sample, or product that is still in development or pre-release state, I will disclose that status of the product in my review in addition to including a disclaimer that the product I am reviewing may be different from the product(s) that may be available to consumers in the future.

   7. Upon experiencing technical difficulties with a product under review, I will attempt to utilize any relevant documentation associated with the product (e.g., manuals, online information, official forums / social media). If that is unable to resolve the problem, I will reach out to you directly. Inadequate documentation and or failure to respond to the aforementioned communications effectively and in a timely manner may be noted in my review if I deem it relevant.

   8. Only under extreme extenuating circumstances will I consider requests for the cancellation of a review once I have received the product / access to the service under review. Requesting that I cancel / refrain from publishing a review because it may garner unfavorable publicity for you or your product is generally unacceptable as doing so would violate my ethical standards. I am, however, willing to help boost messaging from you about clear and demonstrable efforts to improve upon negatively reviewed products if I believe it is in good faith.

   9. I reserve the right to publish any and all review content (pending any already agreed upon release schedule) without providing prior notification to you, especially if it is my belief you will use the advanced notice to attempt to “get ahead” of anything in my review by altering your marketing, product(s), and or consumer communication in a deceptive way.

   10. Any items sent to me unsolicited or without prior contact / agreements for a review or showcase will be considered gifts, and I reserve the right to keep or dispose of those items as I see fit. Further, I may choose to create and publish content about those items, or I may not, as I see fit.

   11. By sending / granting me access to any product for review or showcase, you consent to my usage of your relevant branding (logos, photos and video, product names, slogans, company name, etc.) within my content related to the review or showcase. If you expect any copyright or licensing conflicts, please notify me in advance so we can make appropriate licensing arrangements.

   12. Myself and or my brand(s), will not be held liable for any negative publicity, loss of sales, investment, etc. as a result of my content’s publication or lack thereof.

8. Corrections to verifiable errors I have made will be handled in one of the following ways depending on the severity of the error:

   1. I will place a pinned comment—and or edit the original video description, annotations, or article—detailing what error I made and the correction. OR,

   2. I will publish an additional piece of content (in video or article form) correcting the error and promptly display a link to that content in the original article or video description (and pinned comment / cards / annotations if applicable). OR,

   3. I will delete / make private / de-list the original piece of content and re-upload a corrected version, which will include a prominent declaration that it is a re-upload of a prior piece of content and will explain exactly what error(s) I am correcting. OR,

   4. I will delete / make private / de-list the original piece of content and publish a new piece of content explaining the deletion and including any further relevant information. Only under the most extreme circumstances will I remove / alter content without providing some form of public explanation.

9. If my community / readers / viewers express significat disapproval of any sponsorship / collaboration I am a part of, or if the party I am collaborating with / sponsored by acts illegally or in very morally / ethically questionable ways, I reserve the right to terminate that collaboration or sponsorship contract with little or no prior notice. I may delete / make private / de-list any of my content related to that collaboration or sponsorship as well as make appropriate announcements depending on the situation. My core responsibility is and always will be to safeguard the well-being of myself, my business(es), and my audience.

10. Unless explicitly stated and agreed upon by all parties, I will not be held to any strict deadline or timeline of production and or content release. Further, I reserve the right to cancel or reschedule the production or release of any collaborative or sponsored content if extenuating or complicating circumstances arise. In such instances, I may contact you to explain the situation that has arisen, within reason, and negotiate plans for compensation adjustment if any was previously agreed upon. I am a human being with my own personal life, needs, and obligations and those will always come before any business–related obligations.

11. Payment, release scheduling, one-off or long-term agreements, and all other technicals are of course negotiable.

12. The above terms may be altered or stricken on a case by case basis, within reason, depending on what is permitted by U.S. law, Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), press embargos, protection of trade secrets, or similar significant concerns.

Put simply, I will not dishonestly market you or your product, withhold information, or decieve to my community and the public for any price. If that’s what you’re looking for, don’t bother contacting me. I’m a small creator, and I certainly appreciate the opportunity to work with anyone, but I’m not a pushover.
